Canine Good Citizen 11/02/09
The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
Many dog owners choose Canine Good Citizen training as the first step in training their dogs. The Canine Good Citizen Program lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events.

The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program improves children’s reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog. But not just any dog. R.E.A.D. dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owners as a team, going to schools, libraries, and many other settings. Sponsored by Pedigree, this large-scale pet adoption event is presented by the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory and the Minnesota Partnership for Animal Welfare (MnPAW).
Hundreds of cats and dogs from more than 25 animal welfare and rescue organizations will be together for one day, at one place, ready for their forever home. There is no charge for admission to the event or for parking. For health and safety reasons, please leave your current pets at home.
